Appeal of M. Hrushevsky Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies

Dear friends! We need your help.

Today our State and our Nation are at war. Ukraine has been fighting for Freedom and Independence more than 160 days, but this war has been going on for over 300 years already. Our Institute is fighting too. For over 30 years the Institute has done a lot for preserving the national written monuments from the Middle Ages till present. The Institute has published hundreds of books that represent a historical and cultural legacy of Ukraine.

Since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, we have suffered an irreparable loss: a doctoral student of the Institute died in the battle for Kyiv. Two of our colleagues were forced to leave their homes in the town of Irpin saving their lives. Three of our research workers and one post-graduate student are currently defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

A friend in need’s a fiend indeed!

And we have already felt it. The Institute is sincerely grateful to the British Library for helping us to preserve our book and archival collections. Our institution, our research workers even now continue working and we need so much providing direct financial aid. We would be grateful to all those who will give us a hand at this hard time.
